Stocktwits Top 25 Week 22

Good afternoon everybody and welcome to the Stocktwits Top 25 Newsletter for Week #22, 2020.

The Stocktwits Top 25 reports the top 25 performing stocks in the S&P 500, Nasdaq 100, and Russell 2000 year to date (YTD) and tracks their performances over time. Here are your Stocktwits Top 25 Lists for Week #22:

Leading with the S&P 500

On the Stocktwits Top 25 S&P 500 List, Dexcom held the #1 ranking despite losing another 6.65% this week. The stock is now down 9.5% in the last 2 weeks but still up 73% YTD.

#2 Regeneron Pharma was up 7.5% on the week and is gaining fast now 63% higher YTD. Old Dominion Freight lept 10 spots to sneak into the Top 10 at #9 after ripping 8% on the week.

Citrix Systems gained 8% on the week and rose 9 spots to #12 from #21.

Here’s the ST Top 25 S&P 500 List for Week #22:

The Stocktwits Momentum Meter calculates the average weekly performance of the top 25 stocks and reflects how the top stocks are performing week to week relative to the broader index.

The Stocktwits Top 25 S&P 500 Momentum Meter rose 3.19% for the week. This was just a smidge better than the full index, which rose 3.01%.

The 0.18% differential suggests the top stocks in the index performed in line with the broader index. Breadth for the list was solid as 18 of the 25 closed higher.

Up next, big cap Nasdaq 100

Stocktwits Top 25 Nasdaq 100 #1 Zoom Video rose another 5% to hold the top spot. It closed on Friday at an all time high and is now up 163% YTD. $ZM’s market cap crossed the $50B barrier. Wow!

Tesla held the #2 spot and is now up 100% YTD. It has added $75B in cap for the year. ⚡️ 🚘

Amazon was flat on the week but managed to stay at #11.

Here’s the ST Top 25 N100 List for Week #22:

The Stocktwits Top 25 Nasdaq 100 Momentum Meter rose 3.08% for week #22, while the full Nasdaq 100 gained 1.77%. The 1.31% differential suggests that the top stocks in the index outperformed the full index by a bit but nothing crazy.

20 of the 25 Top Nasdaq 100 stocks closed green on the week. Not too shabby 👊

The Nasdaq 100 closed within 2% of all time highs. Remarkable.  Will the top stocks continue to march on or be met with resistance at the old highs? Place your bets…

Last but not least, small-cap Russell 2000

Novavax held onto The Stocktwits Top 25 R2K #1 spot, though it was flat on the week. This recent ST Top 25 Top Dawg stock is up over 1000% YTD and it probably deserves a rest as the broader biotech space underperformed a bit on the week.

Waitr Holdings held at #2 up 5.5% on the week. This guy is like Scottie Pippen. Insane in his own right (up 667% YTD) but overshadowed by MJ ($NVAX).

Mersana Therapeutics entered the ST Top 25 R2K all the way up at #4 after gaining an absurd 128% on the week. The biotech stock bounded higher on encouraging early stage cancer study data and its market cap crossed the big $1B line. Congrats $MRSN shareholders. When the bars open, you guys are buying. 😉

Here’s the ST Top 25 R2K List for Week #22:

The Stocktwits Top 25 Russell 2000 Momentum Meter continued the outperformance versus the broader index. The list closed up 5.23% while the Russell 2000 gained 2.84%. A differential of 2.39%.

Flat out, the top R2K stocks continue to outperform the broader small cap index handily. This is textbook momentum leadership on display thank you.

ST Top 25 TOP DAWG OF THE WEEK 🐶

NortonLifeLock Inc is the Stocktwits Top 25 Top Dawg for Week #22, 2020.

The stock gained 12.6% for the week, closed at an all time high on Friday, and rose from #7 to #3 on the Stocktwits Top 25 SP500 List. It’s now up 55% YTD with a $13.7B market cap.

$NLOK has been a winner for some time and blew out earnings two weeks ago. It really got hot towards the end of the week, rising 14.4% on Thursday and Friday alone.

$NLOK sells cybersecurity products and services, which we all know is critical in this age and it looks like they’ve figured out how to grow sales. Who would’ve thought, sales growth would lead to a high stock price. 🤷‍♂️

Have a look at this beauty chart on Norton LifeLock, your Top Dawg for Week #22, 2020:

Note: Last week’s Top Dawg, Chipotle, fell 5% on the week and dropped off the ST Top 25 SP500 list from #19. Burritos come at you fast, evidently.

The Winners 📈

△ #9 S&P 500 – Old Dominion Freight Line trucked along gaining 7.75% for the week. It rose 10 spots on the Stocktwits Top 25 S&P 500 List from #19 to #9 and cracked the top 10 like a champ.

The stock closed at an all time high on Friday bringing its YTD performance to 35.38%. It’s just been movin’ along, we wonder how much gas is left in the tank? Place your bets… 🚚

△ #17 S&P 500 – Tractor Supply harvested a 9.09% gain this week and made its debut on The ST Top 25 S&P 500 list at #17.

$TSCO closed at all time highs on Friday and has risen 31.47% YTD. 🚜

Here’s the YTD chart, check out the run it’s been on since mid March.

△ #4 R2K – Mersana Therapeutics soared 128.69% this week to join the ST Top 25 R2K list at #4.

The stock was already up 166% YTD heading into the week but just debuted on the list. It’s up 295% YTD but would still need to triple to steal the top spot from $NVAX. lol!

$MRSN spiked 69% Wednesday on positive news with their early-stage ovarian cancer treatment.

△ #4 N100 – Regeneron Pharmaceuticals ripped 7.53% this week and jumped up one spot to #4 on the ST Top 25 N100 list and up one spot on the ST Top 25 SP500 list to #2.

$REGN closed the week at all time highs and traded the most daily shares on Thursday that it’s seen in 7 years. Lots of interest there.

For the technical analysis junkies out there, check out that breakout from that 5 year base. Damn, $REGN.

The Sinners 📉

▼ #10 S&P 500 – Newmont Corporation dropped another 7.26% this week. Over the last 2 weeks $NEM has dropped 14% and went from #2 to #10 on the ST Top 25 S&P 500 list. Will this stock find its ground or will it continue to tumble down the ranks? Place your bets…

▼ #25 N100 – Advanced Micro Devices dropped 2.48% for the week. The stock closed strong on Friday to just barely stay on this week’s ST Top N100 list – coming in at #25.

Check out the daily chart. $AMD looks like a nice little ☕️

▼ #19 R2K – Tocagen, a small biotech fell 19.33% last week. This stock is an absolute freak. $TOCA tumbled 12 places from #7 all the way down to #19. Ouch, Jim.
