Stocktwits Top 25 – Week 22 📈

Good evening, everyone, and welcome to the Stocktwits Top 25 Newsletter for Week 22 in 2021.

The Stocktwits Top 25 reports the 25 best-performing stocks in the S&P 500, Nasdaq 100, and Russell 2000 year to date (YTD), and tracks their performances over time. 

Here are your Stocktwits Top 25 Lists for Week 22:

ST Top 25 S&P 500

The ST Top 25 S&P 500 list piggybacked off last week’s strong performance. 21 of 25 names closed positive, including several gaining > 10%.

Marathon Oil outed Nucor as the top stock on the list. $MRO moved from #3 to #1 due to a 14% weekly gain.

$GPS decreased 5.5% and lowered 13 spots from #5 to #18. The retail company is on the Sinners list below. 

4 Freshmen made the list. The companies are Schlumberger Limited, APA Corporation, Iron Mountain Inc, and DXC Technology Company.

The Stocktwits Top 25 S&P 500 Momentum Meter increased 5.25% while the S&P 500 gained 0.61%. The 4.64% differential in favor of the Top 25 shows the top stocks outperformed the full index easily.

The Big Cap Nasdaq 100

The ST Top 25 N100 continued higher into the first week of June. 19/25 names closed green, 2 better than last week.

Nvidia made the biggest move of the week, leaping 8.2%. The semiconductor company improved 5 spots from #7 to #12.

3 of the top 5 names on the list are still semis. 

$TCOM tripped and fell 6.25%, wiping out all of the prior week’s gains. It’s a Sinner below.

Two Freshmen made the list. The names are Biogen and Gilead Sciences.

The ST Top 25 Nasdaq 100 Momentum Meter gained 1.32% in Week 22 while the full Nasdaq 100 climbed 0.62%. The 0.7% differential suggests the top stocks performed a bit better than the full index.

Small-Cap Russell 2000

The ST Top 25 R2K List was the top-performing list for the fourth straight week.

22 of 25 names closed higher. 13 names gained > 10%.

AMC Entertainment ascended another 83.4% this week to claim the #1 spot on the list ahead of GameStop. It’s a Winner below.

$CONN debuted on the list as a Freshman and this week’s Top Dawg. The furniture company is ranked #25, see more below. 

5 new stocks appeared on the ST Top 25 Russell 2000 list. The names include $TELL, $IDT, $DDS, $AVXL, and $CONN.

The ST Top 25 R2K Momentum Meter gained 13.25% while the Russell 2000 index rallied 0.77%. The 12.48% differential shows the top stocks far stronger than the full index.

ST Top 25 TOP DAWG OF THE WEEK 🐶

The ST Top 25 Top Dawg for Week 22, 2021 is #25 R2K – Conn’s, Inc.

Conn’s climbed 25% in Week 22 after reporting better than expected first-quarter results. The furniture store company grabbed the last spot on the ST Top 25 R2K List as a Freshman.

The Winners 📈

△ #3 S&P 500 – Devon Energy Corp improved a spot on the ST Top 25 S&P 500 List and gained 19.20%. The energy company closed green every day this week. 💪

$DVN ripped 14% on Tuesday after Raymond James analyst John Freeman upgraded the company to a strong buy from outperform and raised his price target to $40 from $34.

Oil prices closed at 2 1/2-year highs after the OPEC+ forecasted rising prices, as demand is rising and supply is falling. U.S. Crude closed at $69 on Friday.

$DVN is up 100.25% YTD.

△ #20 N100 – Biogen Inc increased 7% and closed at a yearly high. The biotech company arrived on the ST Top 25 R2K List as a Freshman, it’s now ranked 20th. 

$BIIB blasted 5% on Friday ahead of a much-awaited FDA approval for the company’s aducanumab Alzheimer’s drug. If cleared, the medicine would be the first to target a root cause of the memory-robbing illness. Alzheimer’s is the sixth biggest cause of death in the US.

However the FDA rules, the impact on Biogen’s stock will be big. Stay tuned. 📺 

$BIIB is up 17% YTD. 

△ #1 R2K – AMC Entertainment overtook GameStop as the top-performing stock on the Russell 2000 list this week. The MemeStock nearly doubled again, ascending 83.5% and closing at all-time highs. 

$AMC announced a sale of 11.5M shares of its stock on Thursday, taking advantage of Wednesday’s 95% gain. Smart CEO. 😉

▼ #18 S&P 500 – Gap, Inc gave up all of Week 21’s gains and then some! The clothing retail company was the second weakest stock on the ST Top 25 N100 List, down 5.5%. $GPS moved thirteen spots lower from #5 to #18.

Despite the weakness, Gap Inc. is surprising 70,000 frontline workers at its stores, delivery sites, and customer contact centers with a $300 bonus. 👏

The company commented:

$GPS is still up 56.5% YTD.

▼ #22 N100 – Trip.com Group lowered 6.25% this week to close at #22 on the ST Top 25 N100 List, nine rankings worse than last week. 

Trip.com Group and Tripadvisor announced on Tuesday an expansion of their strategic collaboration, which was initially announced in November 2019. This includes a new commercial agreement and a Governance Agreement waiver.

To enhance the Tripadvisor Plus offering, Trip.com will provide access to special pricing on at least 10,000 properties. This partnership, which will begin later this year, is intended to grow over time.

$TCOM is up 16.3% YTD.
