The Weekend Rip: The Bank Is Open

Tale of the Tape

Happy Easter, everyone — we hope y’all had a restful weekend. ☀️ 🐰

US markets are back with a full week but earnings are light — only 4 S&P 500 companies are scheduled to report. See the calendar below.

Last week the S&P 500 flew through 4,000 for the first time ever— are we bound for blue sky?? Time will tell… ⏰

The Nasdaq-100 ETF clapped back 2.71%. $QQQ had its best week since early February. Is big cap tech back?

In case you missed it; Jalen Suggs shocked the world with a ~40-footer at the end of OT sending Gonzaga to the Men’s NCAA National Championship game. If that doesn’t get you hyped for the week ahead— we don’t know what to say. 🤭

Here’s the weekly S&P 500 chart:

And last week’s changes:

S&P 5004,019+1.14%
Nasdaq13,480+2.60%
Russell 20002,253+1.46%
Dow Jones33,153+0.24%

Oh — Crypto 👀

The cryptos continue to creep higher while US markets are closed. The top 10 trending tickers on Stocktwits are all crypto…

Bitcoin bopped through 60K on Friday for the first time since March 18. Check out the daily chart:

Ethereum flew through 2,000 and set a new record high.

And here are a few quarterly candles for your viewing pleasure:

Bitcoin [Oct. 2014 — March 2021]

Ethereum [April 2016 — March 2021]

Could we see crypto clear a measured move from here?? Nobody knows. 🤷‍♂️

The Bank Is Open— Zaga To The Chip

Wow— What. A. Game!! If you’re not a basketball fan, we feel for you. History was made during Gonzaga and UCLA’s Final Four matchup. Gonzaga’s Freshman Guard, Jalen Suggs, pulled up from ~40’ to close out one of the best college games of all-time. If you haven’t seen the buzzer beater, check it out here.

Suggs, the five-star recruit who also scored elite football scholarships, said this after the game:

I’ve always wanted to run up on the table like Kobe and D-Wade and go like that, and that’s the first thing I did. Man, that is something that you practice on your mini-hoop as a kid or in the gym just messing around. And to be able to do that, it’s crazy.
👏 💪 👏

And here’s DWade’s reaction on Twitter:

On Monday night, Baylor and Gonzaga will battle to find out who’s the best. Here’s ESPN with more.

The Women’s NCAA National Championship game is TODAY. It’s an All-Pac-12 playoff, Stanford vs Arizona. Here’s CBS Sports with more.
