Good evening, folks. It was a thirsty Thursday as Airbnb made its trading debut. $ABNB closed up over 100% from its IPO price. A Bay Bay!!
The major indices were mixed after yesterday’s weakness. The Russell 2000 rallied 1%. Small-caps continue to show strength.
Energy was the strongest sector. $XLE surged 3% while Crude cleared its highest price prior to the pandemic.
This morning’s Jobless Claims surpassed 850,000. This was the largest week-over-week increase in ~3 months. Here’s Eddy Elfenbein with more.
Twitter and Snap both soared after a new collaboration was announced. See more on this below.
Starbucks set a new all-time high. $SBUX is up 87% since March 18, 2020. The company also just appointed Mellody Hobson to lead its board, making her one of the highest-profile Black directors in corporate America. 🎉
The mouse is in the house. 😤 Today Disney held its investor day. The company said Disney+ has over 86M subscribers. Here’s a link in case you missed it.
Elon’s EV maker was electric. $TSLA turned around and closed up 61 points from its intraday low.

The Unicorns Take Flight
Airbnb IPO’d today. And man, it dashed like $DASH yesterday. The company priced its IPO at $68… and the stock opened at a cool $146. Sheesh ✈️
This makes the ~$86.5B market cap of $ABNB more than the Hilton, Hyatt, and Marriott hotel chains combined.

The stock officially closed up 112% from its IPO price. How bout that. 😉
Earnings Round-Up
Adobe beat the Street’s expectations for Q4 and upped 2021 guidance early this morning.
Here are the stats:
EPS: $2.81 vs $2.66 est.
Revenue: $3.42B +14% YoY
Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen said:
Adobe delivered record Q4 and FY20 revenue performance amidst an unprecedented macroeconomic environment. As the undisputed leader in three growing categories – creativity, digital documents and customer experience management – we are well-positioned to capture the massive market opportunity ahead of us in 2021 and beyond.
$ADBE was down 1.4%.
Oracle saw revenue growth slow as the company’s cloud and hardware businesses lag. The company failed to provide an update on the TikTok saga. Remember that?? Lol.

$ORCL was flat after hours.
Lululemon posted a surprise profit in Q3 and grew revenue by 21% YoY. When the world shuts down, everyone wants athleisure. 😉

Costco beat estimates, but pandemic-related costs took a toll on its bottom line. Online sales soared 86%.

WeedMaps Goes SPAC
WeedMaps will go public through a deal with Silver Spike Acquisition Corp.
The California-based company allows users to find and review marijuana sellers. Companies that “touch” cannabis are unable to list in the US, but Weedmaps’ platform is an exception.
WeedMaps CEO Chris Beals said:
When you look at what we’re offering [to investors], there’s really not too much else like it.
After the House’s federal decriminalization of marijuana, the deal’s expected to raise ~$575M. It’s lit. 😌 💨
New Whales?
Researchers discovered a new species of giant beaked whale off Mexico’s coast. 🐳
While boating 500 km south of the US border, oceanographer Jay Barlow saw some unique-looking whales next to his boat.
Turns out, the giant whales might be a new species! It’s a huge zoological discovery if true. Barlow said:
It is a huge animal, the weight of a Clydesdale horse. Imagine something that big in the terrestrial realm going undiscovered. But there’s a lot of mysteries in the sea.
