Every major index finished the day lower, but the Dow Jones had its best month since January 1987. See the monthly charts below.

Tech and healthcare were the only sectors to finish positive. Financials fell 2% while energy lagged 5.5%.

It’s 2020, y’all. 🤷

GM will no longer take an equity stake in Nikola. $NKLA tumbled 27%. Oopsy – daisy!

Moderna Marched On

Today, Moderna asked the FDA for Emergency Use Authorization for its COVID-19 vaccine.

The pharmaceutical company also released its Phase 3 efficacy analysis, which shows 94.1% general efficacy against the virus. 🙌

Moderna could be on track to begin distribution by the end of December. Vaccinations will probably not be available to the general public until spring or summer, though.  

The American drug company also announced an agreement to supply the UK with 2 million additional vaccine doses. 

Moderna CEO Stéphane Bancel said: 

We appreciate the collaboration with the UK government as with many other governments and other key partners around the world. For almost a decade, Moderna has invested in creating and developing a novel platform for designing and manufacturing a new class of mRNA-based vaccines. We are proud of the progress on mRNA-1273 we have made to date including the positive interim analysis from our Phase 3 COVE study.

Zoom Earnings 

Zoom Video Communications reported Q3 earnings after the close. The Company has roughly 433,700 customers with more than 10 employees. 👀

Here are the results:

EPS: $0.99 vs $0.76 est.
Revenue: $777.2M +367% YoY

Zoom Founder and CEO Eric Yuan said:

Strong demand and execution led to revenue growth of 367% year-over-year with solid growth in non-GAAP operating income and cash flow in our third fiscal quarter. We expect to strengthen our market position as we finish the fiscal year with an increased total revenue outlook of approximately $2.575 billion to $2.580 billion for fiscal year 2021, or approximately 314% increase year-over-year.

$ZM was down 4.5% after hours.

DraftKings X Detroit Pistons 

DraftKings is now the Detroit Pistons’ Official Daily Fantasy Sports Partner. 

The team will have access to Pistons trademarks, logos, and courtside branding. DraftKings’ Chief Business Officer, Ezra Kucharz, said:

As our first professional team activation in the state of Michigan, we are thrilled to join forces with the Detroit Pistons ahead of our pending market introduction. This deal deepens our relationship with a prominent local team to facilitate more immersive fan experiences, both for Michiganders familiar with regulated gaming products as well as newcomers to the space.
