The Running of the Bulls

Tale of the Tape

Good evening everyone. The S&P 500 gained .84% today, notching its highest close since February 21. The big cap index is now positive for the year. Woohoo!

The real action, though, was in the Naz which ripped 2.5% to close at an All. Time. High.

Big cap tech was back with a vengeance and mocking all rotation theories after taking the short-lived breather last week.

Amazon gained a whopping 8%, making up most of last week’s losses. The beast added over $200B in market cap. Not bad for an online bookseller 😉💪🏻💰📚

Tesla gained 9.5% to close at an all time high. Twilio gained 10%. Spotify gained 10%. Peloton gained 10%. Zoom gained 9%. Microsoft gained 4%. These are very large companies tacking on kabillions in one session. It’s banoodles.

Still, somehow, the Russell 2K closed lower on the day.

Here’s a YTD chart featuring the Nasdaq 100 ETF, $QQQ and the small-cap Russell 2000 ETF, $IWM. Worlds apart…

And here’s Steve Ballmer pitching Windows I in the 1980s and he’s hilarious.
