Good afternoon everyone and welcome to the Stocktwits Top 25 Newsletter for Week #26, 2020.
The Stocktwits Top 25 reports the top 25 performing stocks in the S&P 500, Nasdaq 100, and Russell 2000 year to date (YTD) and tracks their performances over time.
Here’s your Stocktwits Top 25 Lists for Week #26:
ST Top 25 SP500
The top names on the Stocktwits Top 25 S&P 500 held steady despite some volatility. #1 and #2 Dexcom and Regeneron maintained their top spots while dropping 6.4% and 5% respectively.
Paypal and Nvidia traded place at #3 and #4, and Amazon kept the #6.
There were no new entrants, no Freshman class 🤨, but a bunch of moves higher and lower.
ABIOMED fell 7% and dropped 5 spots from #5 to #10. NortonLifeLock sank from #9 to #17 as it gave up a full 8% for the week.
eBay jumped 8 spots to enter the top 10 at #7. More on that one below.
Here’s the ST Top 25 List for the S&P 500 for Week #26:
The Stocktwits Momentum Meter calculates the average weekly performance of the top 25 stocks and reflects how the top stocks are performing week to week relative to the broader index.
The ST Top 25 SP500 Momentum Meter fell 0.96% while the full S&P 500 Index fell 2.86%. This +1.90% differential suggests that the strongest stocks in the index outperformed the broader index.
Still, 16 of the 25 ST Top 25 SP500 stocks closed lower. Weak sauce.
The Big Cap Nasdaq 100
Zoom held at #1 on the Stocktwits Top 25 Nasdaq 100 List this week, rising another 5.5%. This was the 5th week in a row the stock closed higher, an epic run for the first half of 2020 by any measure and now sporting a whopping $72B market cap.
NetEase was the biggest gainer on the list, up 6%. See more below.
Splunk gained 5% and rose from #24 to #18. It’s now up 31% YTD.
The ST Top 25 Nasdaq 100 Momentum Meter inched up 0.17% while the full N100 lost 1.90%. The +2.07% differential suggests that the top stocks YTD continue to outperform. 14 of the 25 were lower.
Small-Cap Russell 2000
The top names on the Stocktwits Top 25 R2K List continued to rip. As if the 18.68% return in week 25 wasn’t enough, week 26 tacked on another 11%.
Novavax kept the #1 spot, gaining another 19.5%. We are running out of emojis to describe such performance. It is now up 1844% YTD.
Inovio Pharmaceuticals swapped places with Waitr Holdings in the #2 and #3 spots.
5 new names appeared. Athersys Inc. was the top Freshman jumping 46.7% to join the list at #20😳
All 25 names on the list are up > 100% YTD, Stellar.
The Russell 2000 Index dropped 2.81% last week while the ST Top 25 Russell 2000 Momentum Meter jumped 11%.
That’s a 13.81% differential in favor of the ST Top 25 R2K. Last week the positive differential was 18% so the top stocks in this small cap index have been and continue crushing the broader index.
Hot damn. 😜
ST Top 25 TOP DAWG OF THE WEEK 🐶
The Top Dawg of the Week for Week #26 is eBay. The stock gained 5.38% and rose from #15 to #7 on the ST Top 25 SP500 List. $EBAY is now up 42.09% YTD.
$EBAY has been a low-key COVID play as it benefits from the ecommerce shop from home trend.
In addition, recent research suggests that the company has been doing a great job on the shopper experience side. Nice work guys!
Check out this summary of the recent Deutsche Bank report. Here’s a tease for y’all…
…new buyers to eBay have had a positive experience, with some 40% saying they’re “very likely” to make another purchase in the next six months, with another 20% “somewhat likely” to do so.
The chart looks constructive:
The Winners 📈

Maybe, it’s turning the corner as it gained a couple spots last week and another 8 this week to #12. Cinderella Story? Place your bets…
△ #12 N100 – NetEase Inc was the ST Top 25 N100’s biggest winner this week, gaining 6% – not bad in a weak week.
$NTES closed at an all-time high Friday and is up 43.7% YTD.
Check out the sweet break out on the daily:
△ #19 R2K – Translate Bio Inc was up 45% Tuesday and down 20% Wednesday. 🤣 What a volatile puppy.
It gained 27% for the week.

$TBIO is a strong component in a strong industry as biotechs just broke out of a 5-year base. Check out this YTD chart of $TBIO vs the iShares Trust Biotechnology ETF.
The Sinners 📉
▼ #1 S&P500 – DexCom, Inc. fell 6.5% this week. Still, it sat tight at #1 in the ST Top 25 S&P 500 List. The stock gave back more than half of the prior week’s gains but is still up 75% YTD.
$DXCM is 10% from an all-time closing high. Can it muster the strength needed to reach all timers? Place your bets…
▼ #6 N100 – Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc surrendered 5% and dropped 2 spots on the ST Top 25 N100 List.
$REGN is up 63% YTD. Here’s a look at the weekly – maybe just some consolidation.
▼ #13 R2K – Kala Pharmaceuticals Inc was an ugly duckling. Losing 23.66% ain’t cutting it when names are throwing down 100% weekly gains on the ST Top 25 R2K.
Is $KALA rolling over? Sure, it’s up 182% YTD but have a look:
